Tony O. Martin’s Platform
You told me what’s important to you from your front porch, and I’ve been listening.
I’ve spent a decade getting to know the people in this community – talking to our neighbors and business owners, and asking them what issues matter to them the most. I’ve been taking notes, and this is what you told me:
Key Issues
Livable Wages
We need livable wages, competitive pay, and more job opportunities. Creating an improved quality of life for West Virginians is vital for increased investments and keeping our young people here.
Affordable Healthcare
We need Medicare for all. I believe everyone deserves access to affordable healthcare.
Right To Work
Let’s repeal Right-To-Work, and restore Prevailing Wages.
Education
We need policies that improve access to Higher Education opportunities including trade and vocational schools.
Fighting Substance Abuse
We need more resources available for people struggling with substance use disorder, including long-term treatment centers.
Protecting Freedom and Rights
Medical decisions are personal, and need to remain between Doctors and their patients. We must protect the right to privacy for our residents.
For The Next Generation
Nothing is more critical to me than supporting our families and putting our children first. We need more youth programs and community centers as part of prevention – which include science, technology, and the arts.
Better Roads
We need to invest in our local roadways. They are an important resource to tourism and will attract new businesses to our area.
Addressing Inflation
There are opportunities to provide tax relief for WV families, and I will support legislation to do just that.
Lower Taxes
We need a fair tax plan that doesn’t require our working class and lower income families to bear a larger percentage of the tax burden.
